Article on Black Literature

                         Throughout the Civil Rights movement, Gwendolyn Brooks, in Addition to Writers like Richard Wright, wrote about Issues. As Black authors produced award winners and sellers, the American book became mainstream by the 1970 s. Around this time, scholars began into accept American novels as well as American authors as a part of the canon. Toni Morrison helped encourage literature and authors by editing books, and became an editor for Random House in their 1960 and 70s. Later, she became an essential twentieth century African American writer in her very own right. She wrote her first novel in 1970. Beloved, that took the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction is her most famous novel.

                           Is about a slave who chose to kill her infant girl from being a slave to keep her. Song of Solomon, that brotherhood and delves into the topics of materialism, is another novel that is key. The first African American woman into be awarded their Nobel Prize in Literature has been Morrison.A famous article coming Zora Neale Hurston, with her classic book Their Eyes Were Watching God into the literary world's focus by Alice Walker, the 1970 novelist and poet. Alice Walker brought home the American book Award, and the Pulitzer Prize for The Color Purple. The main character in their Color Purple, Celie, tells their story of a girl who has no choice within the marriage of a domestic violence after being raised from a step dad who used into abuse the sexually.

                         Later on, this book was made into a film by Steven Spielberg. Genre fiction is just another crossover for literature that's African American. Chester Himes is one of their most famous in his genre, his series of pulp books about NY detectives Coffin Ed Johnson also Gravedigger Jones were well known throughout the 50s and 60s. The influence of Himes's previous books can be seen in their crime fiction of Hugh Holton also Walter Mosley.A great climax was when Ed P. Jones won The 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for their Known World, a book about a slaveholder that has been black in the antebellum.
